Beautiful sea view. Room pretty good (not so new, but fair). 2 mins walk by famous club "Covo di Nord Est"
Parking excluded (16€ per day). Beach beds exluded (16 € each/day)
No where to get coffee if kitchen is closed in the morning.
They market and sell a parallel pension as a 4 star hotel. When booking be aware of the added "Dependance", this is nothing but a pension and you will pay a four star hotel price for it. Upon complaint, they will diligently offer to relocate, of course, at a higher rate.
This hotel has two buildings. Main one is in good condition but second one you even can’t call it hotel it’s over 100 years old Motel. With dirty walls, moldy in the bathroom, absolutely terrible bed, mattress and pillows. In addition air conditioner didn’t work and hotel staff didn’t want to fix it – they just recommended opening windows! Plus it’s absolutely no soundproof. You can listen what is going on in the next door room. Elevator working with terrible heavy metal sounds and it was waking us up every time. You can’t promote this hotel as a 4 star hotel. Its misleading information and I even can call it fraud because when you see these rooms and disagree they tell you to pay extra 85 euro to move to nice room.
The location is great but the beds are old and broken and the staff were not interested at all. The decor hasn't been updated since the 70's and the dive school start to congregate at 7.30am so absolutely no chance of a lie in. I would recommend that you avoid this hotel at all cost.
Poor standard of staff service - they don't even ask if you've slept well or enjoyed your stay - a sure sign they already know the answer! Cost wise it's about £60 a night overpriced and the beds - crippling!
Room was clean but minute. Manager moved us when I begged. We were still in the shocking annexe but in a bigger room.
Rooms too small. Charged for everything - WiFi, pool loungers, parking, One week =£250 extra expenses excluding food. Staff were noisy and inconsiderate during siesta and early morning. Dreadful annexe over a dive shop and hotel garage - very busy. Horrible furnishings and dingy carpets.
The location & very friendly staff.
None - Superb
Santa Margherita is a lovely town and has lots of restaurants, cafes and easy access to the fairies that will take you to Portofino and the Cinque Terre.
Although this is ranked as a 4 star hotel, it seems more like a 2 star. They must have received bonus points for having a tiny rooftop pool and a beach across the street where you have to pay an extra €16 per person/ day to use a beach chair. The lower rate available for the rooms here are for a separate building in the back, above the garage where the rooms are small, outdated and loud noises from the elevator and neighboring business. Although the hotel has wifi, it does not work unless you are in the lobby or outside seating area. I would not recommend staying here.
Value for money regarding vicinity to nearby Portofino. Clean hotel, nice location, many amenities and a good breakfast.
Parking facility was quite expensive.
The hotel has a wonderful vista looking back over Santa Margherita Ligure, which it is just outside of. The staff were helpful and polite.
My room was very small, for a full priced 4-star hotel. It was also a little noisy in the mornings when other guests were mechanically opening their terrace slide doors.
The hotel had a wonderful location right on the beachfront very close to Portofino and downtown Santa Margherita Ligure (which is truly 10 times better than Portofino) and if You have picked a seaview-room, the picture that opens from Your balcony is worth the wait. Sadly, this is all from the good side.
Your surprise to find a 4 star hotel right on the beach in such a wonderful town with a mere 60 eur price tag is justified. But soon You will find the catch. Car park (located away from the hotel)- 18 eur, below average breakfast for 2- 32 eur. You add them and end up with more than 100 eur for an especially worn-off, out of date and old-school hotel. Not good, truly.
Maybe because it was October, we got a really spaciuos room with a double bed and a sofa.. Wish we would stay there more than one night...
